Gaylord is a city which lives and breathes winter sports. Parked comfortably in the snow belt of northern Michigan, come this time of year, we are usually hammered with snow. However, the sound of sleds buzzing the many lakes in the area has been noticeably absent this December. We’ve only had a dusting of snow. However, worry not. This winter is sure to be prime for snowmobile enthusiast, even if it is a little late.
Gaylord is a great town with a rich and enthusiastic snowmobile culture. There are many restaurants, bars, and attractions geared towards Snowmobilers in town. Here are a few good ones if you happen to be in the area.
Timothy’s Pub
Tim’s is located centrally in downtown Gaylord. It has a good atmosphere, but it can get rowdy at times. They have an affordable menu, good dinners, and cheap beer. Just a bit off the snowmobile trail, Tim’s is a good place to stop for a quick bite to eat or a game of pool and a beer.
Bennethum’s Northern Inn
ennethum’s is located just off Otsego Lake, and has a fantastic, quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Their menu is slightly more expensive. Some food and a drink might set you back $50, but you get what you pay for in this case. They have a great selection of micro-brew beers, spirits, and wine, not to mention fantastic food. A great stop that is easily accessible from the trails.
Mary’s Tavern
Mary’s is a little more hip. It has a younger crowd, but is a great stop for a drink. Located downtown, Mary’s is easily accessible by snowmobile. A more bar-like atmosphere, it’s the perfect place to listen to some great music, and play a game of pool.
These are just a few places in Gaylord to stop off the trail at. Snowmobilers from around the state congregate there and show off their equipment. With that said, we here at Precision Motorsports have been stockpiling all the sleds and gear you’ll need to hit the trails in style. If you want to show up in style, without paying top dollar, we have you covered.
